Paragon Oversized 2-Piece Rear Rotor Kit

Increase rear brake torque, thermal capacity, and track durability with the Paragon Performance 340mm or 350mm two-piece rear rotor kit.

Designed for the Honda Civic Type R FK8 and FL5, Acura Integra Type S DE5, and compatible Honda Prelude BF1 applications, this kit increases the factory rear rotor diameter from approximately 305mm to either 340mm or 350mm. The larger effective radius provides additional braking leverage while the two-piece construction reduces unsprung mass compared with a conventional one-piece rotor.

Confirm wheel clearance before ordering. This oversized rotor kit does not fit every 18-inch wheel, even when the wheel diameter appears sufficient. Paragon provides separate clearance templates for the 340mm and 350mm versions.

Compared with the approximately 305mm factory rear rotor, the Paragon kit increases rotor diameter by approximately:

  • 35mm with the 340mm option
  • 45mm with the 350mm option

The increased diameter improves mechanical leverage at the rear axle and supports more consistent braking during repeated high-temperature use.

Two-Piece Fixed-Hat Construction

Each rotor uses a two-piece, non-floating design with an aluminum center hat and replaceable cast-iron friction ring.

The rotor-to-hat assembly uses a fixed eight-bolt mounting system. This construction separates the center hat from the friction ring, reducing unnecessary rotating and unsprung mass while allowing the friction rings to be replaced separately after wear.

CM-250 High-Carbon Friction Rings

The slotted friction rings are manufactured from Paragon’s CM-250 high-carbon alloy cast iron.

Paragon heat-treats the rings to relieve internal stress and reduce the potential for deformation and vibration. The braking surfaces are then finished using CBN machining to support pad bedding and surface consistency. Rotor lateral runout is controlled within 0.03mm, and balance variation is held within 2 grams.

Slotted Rotor Surface

The slotted face pattern helps maintain a cleaner pad-contact surface by moving heat, gases, debris, and moisture away from the friction interface.

This can improve braking consistency during repeated track use and in wet conditions compared with a plain rotor surface.

6061-T6 Aluminum Hats

The center hats are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum.

Available finishes include:

  • Mil-spec black hard-coat anodizing
  • Mil-spec clear hard-coat anodizing

Paragon notes that clear hard-anodized hats are preferred for frequent track use because dyed black hats may discolor when exposed to temperatures above approximately 500°F or 260°C.

Heavy-Duty Caliper Carriers

The kit includes extended steel caliper carriers designed to reposition the factory rear calipers for the larger rotor diameter.

Rather than using thin adapter plates, Paragon supplies carrier brackets modeled after the original caliper-carrier design. This provides a more integrated mounting solution for demanding street, HPDE, track, and competition use.

Weight Reduction

The 350mm rotor assembly weighs approximately 10.3 lb per rotor.

Paragon states this saves approximately 1.5 lb of unsprung weight per rear corner compared with the factory rotor while still increasing rotor diameter and thermal capacity.

Wheel diameter alone does not guarantee clearance.

  2. Print it at full scale.
  3. Verify spoke and barrel clearance.
  4. Confirm clearance around the brake lines, suspension, calipers, and chassis.
  5. Recheck all clearances after installation.

Paragon states that some 18-inch wheels fit the 350mm kit, but compatibility depends heavily on wheel barrel and spoke design.

After installation:

  • Confirm correct caliper-carrier alignment.
  • Check rotor and caliper clearance.
  • Verify brake-line clearance through the full suspension and steering range.
  • Follow the brake-pad and rotor bedding instructions.
  • Recheck all mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles.
  • Confirm proper brake operation before normal driving.
