Product Description

Upgrade the front braking system on your Honda Civic Type R with the GiroDisc two-piece slotted front brake rotor set. Designed as a direct replacement for the factory front rotors, this lightweight system installs with the original brake calipers and requires no permanent vehicle modifications.

Each rotor combines a proprietary cast-iron friction ring with a lightweight aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum center hat. GiroDisc’s floating mounting system uses ten steel drive pins to transfer braking loads while allowing controlled axial and radial movement as the rotor heats and cools.

Vehicle Fitment

  • 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R FK8
  • 2023-2026 Honda Civic Type R FL5
  • 2024-2026 Acura Integra Type S

Position: Front axle

Quantity: Pair of two front brake rotors

Direct Replacement Design

The GiroDisc front rotor system is engineered as a direct replacement for the original Civic Type R brake discs. It retains the factory calipers, brake bias and ABS operation, making it a practical brake upgrade for street, performance and track-driven vehicles without requiring a complete big brake kit.

Reduced Rotational and Unsprung Weight

The factory front rotors weigh approximately 24.6 pounds each, while the GiroDisc assemblies weigh approximately 21.1 pounds each. The reduction of about 3.5 pounds per rotor lowers both rotational and unsprung mass, which can improve suspension response and reduce the amount of mass the drivetrain and braking system must accelerate or decelerate.

Floating Two-Piece Construction

  • Aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum center hats
  • Proprietary GiroDisc cast-iron friction rings
  • Ten-steel-pin floating mounting system
  • Allows axial and radial movement during heat cycling
  • Designed to reduce stress between the rotor ring and center hat

Curved-Vane Cooling Design

The directional curved internal vanes are designed to move cooling air through the rotor as it rotates. This race-derived construction helps manage brake temperature during repeated hard braking and demanding track use.

Slotted Friction Surface

The slotted rotor face helps maintain a consistent contact surface between the brake pad and rotor. Slots can assist with clearing pad debris and gases while avoiding the additional drilled holes found in cross-drilled rotor designs.

Serviceable Rotor System

Because the GiroDisc assembly uses a separate friction ring and center hat, the iron rotor rings can be replaced after they reach their service limit while the aluminum hats and mounting hardware may be reused when they remain within specification.
